Marlena Szitanko Dipl. Ac., LAc.
Born and Raised in the Red Bank area, I attended St. Leo the Great and Red Bank Catholic before graduating with a Bachelors of Science from Quinnipiac University in 2001.
My formal Acupuncture education began in 2002 at the New England School of Acupuncture where I was trained in the essentials of Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture and Tuina Massage. I am Board Certified under the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since 2005 and am currently licensed in New Jersey.
After graduation in 2005, I traveled to Uganda, Africa with Richard Mandell, and his Non-profit organization -- the Pan African Acupuncture Project (now the Global Acupuncture Project), to help train Midwives, Nurses and other Healthcare workers how to use Acupuncture in their hospitals and clinics. This was a wonderful experience and early on I learned first hand how responsive they were to treatments. This made me even more excited to see how well Chinese Medicine can really work.
Continuing Education is a big part of my evolution in this medicine. I have trained under Dr. Richard Teh Fu Tan and disciples of Master Tung. I have studied Facial Rejuvenation. I have also followed the Taoist teachings of Jeffrey Yuen and the Classical translations of Elizabeth Rochat de laValle. Learning is part of growing and therefore, I truly enjoy traveling to learn from Masters in the field of Acupuncture.
